In Memory of Phil Bromwell
Cantor Phil led services at Ruach Israel for over two decades. In addition to being the congregation’s Senior Cantor, he served on the Ruach Israel Board as the Director of Ritual Life for several years and was actively involved in many other areas of the congregation including Thursday night Homegroup.
Cantor Phil speaks about his spiritual journey:
“When I first came to Congregation Ruach Israel in 1991 I felt immediately at home. Some eight years later, I began helping to lead services at Congregation Ruach Israel as a cantor. I was greatly aided in doing this by my studies at Hebrew College and the wonderful teachers there. I also have to give a shout out to my dear friend, David Nardone, for his mentoring. As a Jew by formal conversion, I have been on a path of learning, growth, and healing that will last for a lifetime.”
Asked about what inspires him about being a cantor at Ruach Israel, Phil says:
“I am constantly amazed and humbled by the musical talent that surrounds me in our community. Making music with them brings so much joy. They are the ones I look to for inspiration. Not only that, there is a unity of purpose in our worship that could only come from the love of Yeshua and the Ruach HaKodesh.”
